A Night to Remember: Celebrating 21 Years of White Center CDA's Progress

Updated: Jan 10

On the evening of October 6, 2023, under the theme "Adulting Ain't Easy," the South Seattle Jerry Brockey Center came alive with the spirit of celebration and community. The White Center Community Development Association (WCCDA) marked its 21st milestone, commemorating a journey of growth, resilience, and transformation. As doors opened at 5 pm and the evening unfolded, it was clear that this gala was not just a celebration; it was a testament to the enduring spirit of White Center and its vibrant community.

Highlighting the Stars of the Evening: The Fundraising Dinner, hosted by the charismatic Aleksa Manila, welcomed a lineup of remarkable individuals. Interim Executive Director Aaron Garcia set the stage with a warm welcome, and Patricia Allen, Board Vice President, enriched the night by sharing their Native Honoring. There were also special performances by UTOPIA and musical talents Christian Tautua and Jarron Jantoc. The true heart of the event was everyone's tribute to Sili Savusa as outgoing Executive Director and her decade of work in the community. Her closing words moved the audience, leaving not a dry eye at her table.

Diverse and Supportive Attendees: Our fundraiser was graced by the presence of White Center's business owners and partner organizations, including Dubsea Coffee, Sanar Massage, Huong Xua Deli, Evergreen Pool, Salvadorean Bakery and Restaurant, CCAW, DLS, and Feest, among others. Every table was filled with ardent supporters of WCCDA's invaluable work, solidifying the sense of community.

Fundraising Success and Scholarship Goals: The event gathered about $10,500. We want to thank our Sponsors for supporting us!

Unforgettable Activities: Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed engaging activities, including a wine toss, silent auctions, raffles, fundraising through "Raise the Paddle," and a series of special performances that added to the gala's charm.
