Our Native programming is back in session if you haven't heard! This programming is lead by our New Native Family Advocate, Talia Antone. A word from Talia: Skeg Tash! My name is Talia Antone. I am a member of the Akimel O’odham tribe, located in Arizona. I have called Seattle home for the past 9 years. I am an artist and educator; I love to merge the two often. I’ve worked in early education for over 10 years. I believe parents are their child’s first teachers. I view my role as a partnership with your family on developmentally and culturally appropriate activities. Native Family Play and Learn will be on Saturdays hosted at Seahurst Park. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Talia at talia@wccda.org. |

The Covenant Homeownership Account bill numbers are (HB 1474 & SB 5496) and it has its first hearing date. Learn more about this bill in this Bill Summary that also has a FAQs page. This bill will support homeownership for those affected by generations of systematic and discriminatory housing policies and practices by Washington State and it will do so through a first-in-the-nation use of a Special Purpose Credit Program by a government agency. We cannot continue to see a Black homeownership rate that is lower than it was before the 1968 Fair Housing Act. Passage of this bill will be groundbreaking in the fight for housing justice. | | |
